uuh, so Keir Starmer wants to go for a 1984 approach? astonished about the stupidity and lack of focus (isn't there other stuff ..), but practically, who cares?

In Germany, the latest similar attempt as far as I know was Mr. Maas in an effort to cut down the "illegal speech" distributed by Telegram under the Netzdurchsetzungsgesetz – basically a law for allowing the government to hire and pay non-government, hard leftist organisations to determine what you are allowed to say. The other German organizations that did so before where the Nazis and the Communists.

Practically, of course it doesn't matter. Mr. Maas quickly found out that Telegram doesn't have a presence in the EU, and that he needs to send snail mail to Dubai. Good luck! I imagine Telegram will have a good laugh when they read the letter=) I haven't heard any media updates about a reply.

on a technical side note: of course there still is an address and the VAE might be receptive for state level coercion. because of that, for the next game level, the developer community is working on a fully decentralized (via blockchain as trust network), permissionless and anonymous solution for private messaging.
