Flash Neos or Wyze Camera with Custom Dafang Firmware – Tutorial – adsmember

Hi Will, great videos! I think I found an easier way to set a static IP address. In the "firmware_modconfig" folder, there is a file called "staticip.conf.dist". Just type in the static IP address you wish, save the file and remove the ".dist" file type, reboot, now your camera has a static IP address.

What do you mean by "We made earlier" 6:10 – You haven't explained anything about an static ip adress???

Turns out they've known about the V1 cam security flaw for over a year and just cancelled product

Tried two different SD cards but I just don't get the blue LED when I try to flash. Instead after 20 or so seconds of holding the setup button I hear the friendly Chinese lady from the original firmware. Did anybody have the same issue and found out why?

Tried with my neos cam that recently updated to the latest firmware but it wouldn't get past the first step with the demo bin file. Tried with several different sd cards 🙁

Any way to get the original Neos firmware back on it? Or where i can get it from?

does it need to be smaller / will a USB stick work in the back?

Mine goes blue holding for 20 seconds then yellow for a bit then it just flashes blue and yellow ever second?

"If it stays yellow" – hm, no it doesn't stay yellow for me, it just blinks continuously. Probably because I had a firmware update just a couple of months ago and NEOS fixed this loophole?? Tried 4x full format overwrite, demo.bin and no luck. When re-instering the SD into my computer before reformatting it I can see the camera just creates its folder structure on the SD next to the demo.bin in and starts recording to the SD card with the footage carrying WYZE watermark on it – that's all what happens. :/

I tried several times to follow along, but I couldn't get it work. It seems there are steps on the actual instructions in github that are not shown here which makes it confusing.

Hi. I allready flashed two Xiaomi Xiaofang 1S Camera a couple months ago. I bought another one for a new project and do not get it to work. I followed the github instuctions step by step and your video. When I insert the final OS drive i get yellow, blue jellow, blue led of but the camera isn´t showing of in my router (the router is running on 2,4ghz). I checked my ssid an PW multiple times. If anybody has an solution I would be very greatfull. If nessery I can upload my log

I've ran into an interesting issue. I get the IP and it resolves to dafang like in the instructions, but browsers can't connect to it. Pings and shows up on my AP.

I'm finding the stream using dafang incredibly slow with artifacts all over the place, any known fixes for this horrendous output? Could this possible be the sd card speed or power input not sufficient enough?

worked as above except led didnt settle to yellow but flashed for 2mins till i carried on the process

Hi Will. Long shot but I have a Neos which updated to their latest firmware. I have the mac address but will this process still work with the a Dec 2020 cam with their latest firmware ? Many thanks.

So, I've followed these instructions to a 'T'… and I'm left with a WyzeCam v2 that has a yellow light… it clicks and briefly turns off, then comes back on – then clicks with the yellow light remaining on. I've tried reflashing multiple times, no luck. I've tried assuming the flash has taken, and put another SD card with the other firmware, no luck.

I've heard references to the latest firmware from WyzeCam being a problem, so I flashed 4.8.4.28 from the "firmware_original" folder, and then attemped the bootloader flash… no luck.

Help?
