The one issue with Tg is it’s not end to end encrypted by default. You can select to have a individual message encrypted but you have to manually do it, where apps like Signal and DatChat are e2e encrypted out of the gate, you don’t have to remember to set the message as encrypted. Another thing to remember is some messaging apps can double as your text app. If you use one as a text app and say your wife has that app on her phone the message may be e2e encrypted or not depending on the app, however your brother doesn’t have that app on his phone so it will not be encrypted on his device where it might still be on your.
Point is it’s important that if your using these apps for privacy that you know fir sure which apps ARE e2e encrypted and to be sure that whoever your talking to also has that app installed.
Otherwise, if it goes from the app on your phone out as sms to the receiving end your entire conversation is exposed for the world to see

Telegram is said to be very secure, but the channels and groups are fairly public, so be careful and know that others can get intothe group or channel to create distractions – so your admin will need to be vigilant and users should tell admins about troble-makers. I find Telegram difficult to use on a phone and the content seems to jump around too often on its own.
Also, there is a slight change that Telegram has a backdoor to its encryption. IsraEli investors helped fund the company and that sometimes means Big Brother has access to some extent. No blind faith, people. Trust no one. Telegram's requiring a real phone number is a clue.
